MODERN THEMES IN GROUP THEORY
Invited Talk on "Modern Themes in Group Theory" The Research and Postgraduate Department of Mathematics, MES Kalladi College (Autonomous), Mannarkkad, in association with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), organized an invited talk on "Modern Themes in Group Theory" on 31 July 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ambedkar Hall. The session aimed to introduce students to contemporary developments in group theory and its applications in modern mathematics. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Girish K. P., Head of the Department of Mathematics, who warmly welcomed the resource person, faculty members, and students. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Jasmine P. M., Principal, who emphasized the importance of strengthening mathematical research and encouraging students to explore advanced topics in algebra. The technical session was delivered by Dr. Mubeena T., Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, University of Calicut. She presented an engaging lecture on recent trends and modern themes in group theory, highlighting the significance of algebraic structures, symmetry, transformations, and their applications in various branches of mathematics. The session provided valuable insights into current research directions and inspired students to pursue higher studies and research in abstract algebra. The programme was attended by Third Year B.Sc. Mathematics students and First and Second Year M.Sc. Mathematics students, along with faculty members of the department. The interactive session that followed enabled students to clarify their doubts and engage in meaningful discussions with the resource person. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Muneera K., Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, the resource person, faculty members, students, and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.

The programme was held at Ambedkar Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The resource person was Prof. Gopalakrishnan, Principal, Lakshmi Narayana Arts & Science College, Mayannur, Thrissur. The programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. with an engaging presentation on the mathematical constant π by Ms. Keerthi, a second-year M.Sc. Mathematics student. Her presentation highlighted the historical development, significance, and various applications of π, setting the stage for the day's session. The formal inaugural ceremony began with a welcome address by Dr. Girish K. P., Head of the Department of Mathematics. This was followed by the inauguration of the programme by the chief guest, Prof. Gopalakrishnan. The presidential address was delivered by Mr. Shihabudheen, Principal-in-Charge of the college, who emphasized the importance of mathematical thinking and encouraged students to develop a deeper interest in the subject. The invited session was then handled by Prof. Gopalakrishnan, who delivered an insightful lecture on the fascinating journey of π. He traced the evolution of π from its origins in ancient civilizations to its modern-day applications in mathematics, science, engineering, computing, and artificial intelligence. The session was highly informative and interactive, capturing the interest of both students and faculty members. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Basila Thasneem, a third-year B.Sc. Mathematics student, who expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person, the Principal-in-Charge, the Head of the Department, faculty members, students, and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme. The event ended on a positive note, leaving the participants with a greater appreciation of the significance and timeless relevance of π.

Extension Programme on Broadcast Journalism and News Presentation - JMC 2026
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication conducted an extension programme at KAHHSS Kottopadam on 24 June 2026 as part of its outreach initiatives. The programme included an introductory session on broadcast journalism, aimed at familiarizing Higher Secondary students with the fundamentals of news presentation and electronic media. As part of the programme, a News Presentation Competition was organized for the students. The event was inaugurated by the School Principal, Mr. M. P. Sadik. Department coordinators Dr. Vishnu K. J. and Ms. Nashariya K. coordinated the programme. A newsroom-style setup was arranged to provide participants with a realistic news presentation experience. The students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating confidence and creativity throughout the competition.

Newsletter Release on Environmental Awareness - JMC 2026
As part of World Environment Day observance, students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Honours created a newsletter to spread awareness about environmental conservation. The newsletter featured fictional future news reports highlighting the possible consequences of environmental degradation. The newsletter was released by Principal Prof. Dr. Jasmine P.
