The Department of Arabic at MES Kalladi College (Autonomous), Mannarkkad, established in 1967, is one of the pioneering centres for Arabic studies in the region. Since its inception, the department has played a vital role in promoting Arabic language and literature while nurturing generations of students with strong academic and cultural foundations. The department offers BA Arabic and Islamic History (Honours – FYUGP) Double Major programme, along with Arabic as a second language for various undergraduate courses. Through a balanced curriculum integrating language, literature, and historical studies, the department equips students with both linguistic competence and critical academic skills.
A key strength of the department is its student-centred teaching and learning approach, designed to encourage active participation and intellectual engagement. With ICT-enabled classrooms, dedicated faculty, active seminars, workshops, and cultural programmes, the department creates a dynamic learning environment.
