The Post Graduate Department of Physics at MES Kalladi College (Autonomous), Mannarkkad, established soon after the college’s inception in 1967, is one of the premier science departments in the Palakkad region. Situated near the scenic Silent Valley, the department has a strong legacy of academic excellence while catering to a diverse student community, including those from educationally backward and tribal areas such as Attappadi.
Over the years, the department has evolved into a centre for higher education, offering UG, PG, and minor programmes in Physics. With a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty, well-equipped laboratories, and modern facilities, it ensures a high-quality learning environment. The department has consistently maintained excellent academic performance, with an average pass percentage of 90% at the UG level and 85% at the PG level, producing university rank holders and successful candidates in competitive exams such as NET, JRF, and GATE.
The department actively engages in outreach programmes and fosters collaborations with industries and national institutions. Its distinguished alumni network includes researchers, technologists, and entrepreneurs contributing to fields like ISRO missions, medical physics, and green energy innovations.

Nature's Voice
The Department of Physics celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with great enthusiasm under the title “Nature’s Voice” and the theme “One Earth, One Chance” on 5th June 2025. An Idea Pitch Competition was organized, conducted in groups, where participants showcased their creativity and solutions through oral and poster presentations. A total of 33 students from various departments actively participated, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability. The event commenced with a warm welcome speech by the coordinator, Hind N, who set the tone for the day’s proceedings. Dr. Resmi, Head of the Department, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the significance of environmental conservation and the need for collaborative efforts to protect our Earth. The function was facilitated by Mrs. Saritha and Mr. Sai, who ensured the smooth conduct of the program and guided the participants. Dr. Sainul Abidin expressed gratitude to all attendees, participants, and organizers through a heartfelt vote of thanks. The Principal distributed prizes to the winners of the competition, appreciating their innovative ideas and efforts in addressing environmental challenges
