QR Labelling of Campus flora

Green initiative

QR labelling of campus flora is a green campus initiative of Department of Botany which aimed to provide the campus community with easy access to information about various plant species in the campus. The inauguration of QR labelling was done by Dr.C.Rajesh, Principal,MES Kalladi College,Mannarkkad on 23-02-2024 with the participation of faculty and students. As the initial step of this initiative a survey on campus flora including trees and shrubs was conducted and identification and authentication of plants was done by using standard flora, literatures,online herbaria and with the support of experts in the field. The Binomial,common name and family with QR codes was designed to create the individual labels of the plants. Unique QR codes were generated for each plants and the same was linked with an online database namely India Biodiversity portal.
