World Environment day Observation- Botany

As part of the observance of World Environment Day 2026, a programme will be organized at Thiruvizhamkunnu Forest Station to promote environmental awareness and encourage community participation in nature conservation. The event will include an inaugural session, an awareness talk on environmental protection and sustainable living, and the distribution of tree saplings.Students, members of the Forest Protection Committee, forest officials, and the public will participate in the programme. The activity aims to foster environmental responsibility and inspire collective action towards building a greener and healthier future.

In connection with World Environment Day, MES Kalladi College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Mannarkkad Forest Division, organized a large-scale tree plantation programme titled “Plant for Planet.” The initiative was jointly coordinated by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Units, Bhoomithrasena Club, Department of Botany, and Department of Chemistry.The programme was conducted at the Kacheripparambu forest area with the support of the Mannarkkad Forest Division. Forest officials, teachers, forest protection volunteers, social workers, local residents, and students actively participated in the event. Various species of tree saplings were planted to highlight the importance of environmental conservation and biodiversity protection.The programme aimed to restore ecosystems, mitigate the impacts of climate change, and promote environmental awareness in society through the planting of indigenous tree species. The event was inaugurated by Mannarkkad Range Officer Imras Alias Nawaz, who emphasized the message, “Planting a tree today can give life to future generations.” Deputy Range Officer C. Girish, Beat Forest Officers Ambili V.R. and Bindu K., MES Kalladi College Bhoomithrasena Coordinator Naseema M.K., NSS Programme Officers Dr. Julia and Shareef K., and Botany Department faculty member Muhsina A.A. were among those who attended the programme. As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the initiative helped instill environmental awareness and social responsibility among students. The organizers stated that similar green initiatives would continue to be organized under the leadership of the Bhoomithrasena Club and NSS Units in the future.
