An extension activity on news reading competition, Intro in to Journalism and News reading

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at MES Kalladi College (Autonomous), Mannarkkad, organized an impactful extension activity on November 19, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM at Kottopadam. Conducted in association with KAHHSS, Kottopadam, the programme was specifically designed to foster media literacy and professional communication skills among students through a dual-faceted approach. The event featured a comprehensive session titled "Intro to Journalism & News Presentation," where participants were introduced to the fundamental pillars of media, broadcasting, and the technicalities of news delivery. This was followed by a highly engaging News Reading Competition that provided students with a practical platform to demonstrate their vocal modulation, presentation style, and confidence. By taking academic expertise beyond the college campus, this outreach initiative successfully bridged the gap between professional journalism education and foundational learning, empowering the next generation of communicators with essential industry insights and practical experience.
