Report on NET Coaching Programme under PM–USHA Scheme PG & Research Department of Economics, MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad The Research and Post Graduate Department of Economics, MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, organised the Inauguration of the NET Coaching Programme under the PM–USHA Scheme on 13 November 2025. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing academic excellence and providing structured guidance to postgraduate students aspiring to qualify for NET examinations.The function commenced with a Prayer by the students, setting a positive and solemn tone for the event.Ms. Mini B, Department-level Coordinator of the PM–USHA NET Coaching Programme, delivered the Welcome Address. She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and invited guests, and highlighted the relevance of systematic coaching initiatives in strengthening the academic profile of the department.The Presidential Address was delivered by Mr. Ramadas M, Head of the Department of Economics. In his address, he emphasised the importance of consistent academic engagement and the need for students to equip themselves for national-level competitive examinations.The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. C. Rajesh, Principal, MES Kalladi College. In his Inaugural Address, he spoke about the institutional commitment to academic enrichment through the PM–USHA Scheme and encouraged students to make use of the opportunities provided.The event was followed by Felicitation by the esteemed faculty members:Dr. Muhammed Musthafa T N, Dr. Sereena, Dr. Femina E P, Dr. Anu Joseph, Dr. Nasiya V K, Dr. Shameer Moozhiyan, and Ms. Ambili S. Each of them appreciated the initiative and offered their best wishes for the success of the coaching programme.The highlight of the day was the Inaugural Talk by the resource person Mr. Nujoom K. K, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, MES Mampad College (Autonomous). His insightful session focused on strategies to approach competitive examinations, the structure of the NET syllabus, and effective preparation methods. Students actively interacted with him, making the session highly engaging and informative.The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Muhammed Thwalhath C M, I Semester PG Economics student. He expressed gratitude to the management, principal, faculty members, resource person, organising committee, and all students who contributed to the success of the event.The inauguration marked the beginning of a promising academic initiative aimed at enhancing the competence and confidence of aspiring NET candidates.

SESSION 1 The first session of the UGC NET coaching programme under the PM–USHA Scheme was handled by Mr. Nojoom K. K., Assistant Professor, Mambad, for the Department of Economics on 13 November 2025. In this session, he completed Unit I of the UGC NET Paper I Microeconomics syllabus. The class covered the foundational concepts of microeconomics, including consumer behaviour, demand analysis, elasticity of demand, production theory, cost concepts, and an introductory overview of market structures. The session was highly interactive, and the students actively participated in discussions and practice questions. The resource person expressed his happiness in engaging with the students of MES Kalladi College, appreciating their enthusiasm and involvement, and conveyed his gratitude to the department for providing the opportunity to handle the session. SESSION 2 Second Session: As part of the coaching programme for National and State Eligibility Test aspirants conducted by the Department of Economics at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, under the PM–USHA scheme, the second session was held on 23 December 2025 from 9.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. The session was handled by Mr. Mohammed Saleem K. N. and focused on important topics in Macroeconomics, including the IS–LM framework, Neo-classical macroeconomic approach, Classical theory of income and output determination, and national income accounts. The session was highly engaging, with active participation from a majority of the attendees. The learning environment was conducive to open discussion, and the participants demonstrated a sound foundational understanding of the core macroeconomic concepts covered during the session. SESSION 3 Third Session: As part of the coaching programme for National and State Eligibility Test aspirants conducted by the Department of Economics at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, under the PM–USHA scheme, the third session was held on 24 December 2025 from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. The session was handled by Mr. Unnikrishnan V. R., Assistant Professor, St. Mary’s College, Puthanangadi. The session focused on core areas of Economics (Quantitative Techniques), including measures of central tendency such as mean, median, mode, geometric mean and harmonic mean; measures of dispersion including standard deviation, mean deviation and quartile deviation; correlation and regression with emphasis on coefficients of correlation and determination; and index numbers and their types. The class was conducted in a NET-oriented manner, incorporating discussion of important questions and answers. Student participation was active, and the learning objectives of the session were effectively achieved. Session 4 The fourth session of the coaching programme for National and State Eligibility Test aspirants was conducted by the Department of Economics at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, under the PM–USHA scheme on 26 December 2025. The session was handled by Mr. Najoom K. K., Assistant Professor, MES College, Mambad (Autonomous), on the topic “International Economics.” The session covered major areas such as basic concepts and theories of international trade, Balance of Payments, exchange rate determination, and foreign exchange markets, with a clear examination-oriented approach. The resource person adopted an interactive teaching methodology, encouraging active student participation and discussion. The session was well received by the participants and contributed effectively to enhancing their conceptual clarity and preparedness for competitive examinations. Session 5 The fifth session of the coaching programme for National and State Eligibility Test aspirants conducted by the Department of Economics at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, under the PM–USHA scheme was held on 29 December 2025 from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. The session was handled by Mr. Unnikrishnan V. R., Assistant Professor, St. Mary’s College, Puthanangadi. The session covered important topics in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics, including data and regression analysis, simple linear regression model, stochastic disturbance terms, significance of R², Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method and BLUE properties, autocorrelation, multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity with relevant tests and previous-year questions. The session also included mathematical concepts such as increasing and decreasing functions, constant functions, consumer surplus and producer surplus with graphical illustrations. Students were attentive and able to follow the explanations clearly; participation was satisfactory, and further interaction was encouraged. The coaching programme for National and State Eligibility Test aspirants conducted by the Department of Economics at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, under the PM–USHA scheme was successfully completed with a series of well-structured and academically rigorous sessions. The programme covered a wide range of core and advanced topics in Economics, including Macroeconomics, International Economics, Quantitative Techniques, Econometrics, and Mathematical Economics, delivered by experienced resource persons from reputed institutions. The sessions were conducted in a NET-oriented and interactive manner, promoting conceptual clarity, analytical thinking, and exam preparedness among participants. Active student engagement, effective content delivery, and achievement of learning objectives were notable outcomes of the programme. Overall, the initiative significantly contributed to strengthening the academic competence and competitive examination readiness of the participants.
