Awareness program to high school students on food safety and nutritional awareness part of world food safety day 2025.

Seminar and Awareness Program on Food Safety The Department of Food Technology at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, organized a seminar titled "Food Safety: Science in Action" on June 12, 2025, in observance of World Food Safety Day. This event aimed to enhance awareness about food safety practices and their critical role in public health. Following the seminar, a Food Safety and Nutritional Awareness Program was conducted on June 13, 2025, at KTM HS Mannarkkad in collaboration with the Food Safety Department, Mannarkkad Circle. Seminar Details The seminar took place on June 12, 2025, at the Department of Food Technology, MES Kalladi College. The session was led by Mr. Ramsheed VK, an Assistant Professor in the PG Department of Food Technology at MSTM Arts and Science College, Perinthalmanna, and a former Food Safety Auditor at FooBureau Veritas, Qatar. His expertise provided valuable insights into the importance of food safety in both domestic and commercial settings. The program was officially inaugurated by Dr. C. Rajesh, the Principal of MES Kalladi College, who emphasized the significance of food safety in ensuring public health. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Mohammed Shabeeb KK, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Technology, who set the tone for the seminar by highlighting the relevance of the topic. The presidential address was given by Mr. Muhammed Faisal KT, the Head of the Department, who discussed the critical role of food safety in the food industry and the responsibilities of future food technologists. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rinsheena PT, a second-year representative, who expressed gratitude to the speakers and participants for their contributions to the event. Food Safety and Nutritional Awareness Program On the following day, June 13, 2025, a Food Safety and Nutritional Awareness Program was conducted at KTM HS Mannarkkad in association with the Food Safety Department, Mannarkkad Circle. This program aimed to educate school children about food safety and nutrition, fostering a culture of health and hygiene from a young age. Mr. Muhammed Faisal KT, the Head of the Department, led the session, providing insights into essential food safety practices. Additionally, second-year Food Technology students Shifa Maryam, Diya Nourin, and Shinana Gafoor presented various topics related to food safety and nutrition. Their presentations were designed to engage the students and make the information accessible and relatable. The session was inaugurated by Mrs. Barshana, who emphasized the importance of food safety education in schools. The presidential address was delivered by Mr. Manoj, the school principal, who highlighted the role of education in promoting health and safety among students. The Science Club Coordinator also delivered a welcome speech, setting a positive and encouraging atmosphere for the program. The school children actively participated in the discussions and expressed their gratitude for the informative sessions, demonstrating their eagerness to learn about food safety and nutrition. The seminar and awareness program organized by the Department of Food Technology at MES Kalladi College were successful in promoting food safety awareness among students and the local community. The collaboration with the Food Safety Department and the active participation of students contributed to the effectiveness of the programs. The department looks forward to continuing its efforts in raising awareness about food safety and nutrition in the future.
