Department of Botany proudly presents the Karkkidakam Fest a celebration of traditional botanical knowledge and Ayurvedic practices
*Karkidakam Fest*The Department of Botany and Zoology, MES Kalladi College, Mannarkad, in association with Bhumithrasena Club, organized the Karkidakam Fest on July 26, 2024. The event aimed to promote awareness about medicinal plants, Ayurvedic practices, and botanical conservation, while reviving traditional knowledge and fostering community engagement.The festival was inaugurated by Principal Dr. C. Rajesh, who emphasized the significance of preserving traditional knowledge and promoting sustainable practices. He symbolically launched the event by savoring the nutritious Karkkidaka kanji and Pathila thoran, prepared using medicinal herbs.Dr. Sereena K., Head of the Department of Botany, delivered a comprehensive keynote address highlighting the importance of Karkidakam Fest. She stressed the need to conserve medicinal plants, promote Ayurvedic practices, and engage with local communities to preserve traditions knowledge. Nazeema M.K., Bhumithrasena Coordinator, and Dr. Shahina P.M., Programme Coordinator, extended felicitations and expressed gratitude to all the participants including teachers Devika K.R., Ameera K, Shahana Jasmi A. and Faseeh; student co ordinators - Amalesh, Fahima, Sreya and Thanza.
