The Department of History at MES Kalladi College is a prominent and distinguished faculty with a rich tradition. It plays a major role in improving the social and educational status of the people in Mannarkkad. The department has been a part of the college since its inception in 1967, with Dr. Ibrahim Kunju, a historian, serving as the first principal. The undergraduate degree course in history was introduced in 1971/72, followed by post-graduation in 1983/84. The department has consistently achieved 100% results in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with very few exceptions. It is now recognized as one of the best departments under the University of Calicut, actively engaging in research activities and projects. Facilities
The department has a well-equipped conference room with an audiovisual panel, an excellent Archaeological Museum, and a Megalithic Museum.
