The Department of Economics has been fulfilling the noble mission to impart gift of value based education to young minds entrusted to our care. The main objective of the department to promote teaching and research in Economics. The department also aims at improving the quality of human capital of the backward district, Palakkad and remedying the educational backwardness of the minority community and the low income groups.

The department has been trying to provide a broad based understanding of Economic theory and its applications in practical life, and also issues in Indian Economic developmental problems. It has undertaken the task of uplifting the backward locality by actively participating in its local, social and economic problems.
