REPORT ON THE GENDER EQUITY PROGRAMMEThe Department of English conducted a Gender Equity Programme on12th March at Ambedkar Hall. The event, titled "Beyond the Glass Ceiling: Shattering Stereotypes and Achieving Parity," aimed to promote discussions on gender equality and the challenges faced in achieving parity in various fields.The program commenced with a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Ramlath A, Assistant Professor, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. She emphasized the significance of gender equity in academic and professional spaces and expressed her appreciation for the initiative taken by the department.This was followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. Sajna A, Head of the Department of English. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of breaking gender-based stereotypes and fostering an inclusive environment for all. She also praised the efforts of the organizing team for bringing attention to such a relevant topic.The official inauguration of the program was carried out by Dr. C Rajesh, Principal of MES Kalladi College. In his inaugural speech, he stressed the necessity of gender equity in all walks of life and the role of education in achieving it. He commended the department for its proactive approach in organizing discussions on critical societal issues.The highlight of the program was the keynote speech by Dr. Aparna B, Assistant Professor, Department of English, NSS College, Ottapalam. She delivered an insightful talk on "Beyond the Glass Ceiling: Shattering Stereotypes and Achieving Parity." Her speech focused on the challenges women face in breaking societal and professional barriers, the importance of equal opportunities, and strategies to promote gender equity. She encouraged students to challenge biases and work towards a more inclusive societyThe event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members, fostering meaningful discussions on gender equity. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students shared their perspectives and raised thought-provoking questions.
