The National Science Day (NSD) 2025 was organized by the Departments of Botany, Physics, and Forensic Science of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, with support from the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, under the theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” The programme, titled “Scientia 2025: Celebrating Innovation and Knowledge,” was coordinated by Nazeema M. K. and held on 17th and 19th February 2025, comprising four major components: a Video-Making Competition, a Science Exhibition, Invited Lectures, and a Valedictory Session. The Video-Making Competition, open to college students, encouraged creative expression of scientific concepts aligning with the sub-theme “Indigenous knowledge systems and modern science integration.” Submissions were evaluated based on creativity, technical quality, theme relevance, and presentation, and winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates during the Inaugural Ceremony on 19th February. The Science Exhibition, conducted on 17th February at the Science Block and led by the Department of Forensic Science, titled “Forensia,” featured crime scene simulations, fingerprint analysis, forensic games, and demonstrations on DNA fingerprinting, firearm analysis, and document examination, offering interactive experiences that deepened students’ understanding of forensic methodologies. The Invited Lecture Session on 19th February at Satyajit Ray Hall included a keynote address by Prof. Mohamed Hatha Abdulla (CUSAT), who emphasized the role of indigenous technology in national development, and a technical lecture by Dr. Jayakumar Balakrishnan (IIT Palakkad) on the applications of Raman Spectroscopy in heat transport analysis. These lectures were followed by interactive Q&A sessions, fostering scientific inquiry and interdisciplinary learning. The Valedictory Ceremony concluded with prize distribution and closing remarks by the Coordinator. Across the events, 139 participants registered, all of whom received participation certificates. The programme effectively promoted scientific communication, innovation, research-driven learning, and career awareness, engaging students from multiple disciplines and reinforcing the role of science in shaping a developed and self-reliant India. The organizing departments extended their gratitude to the resource persons, participants, and supporting agencies for their valuable contributions.
