community extension program
As part of the academic curriculum, students and teachers from the Department of Psychology are conducting a visit to FaithIndia Special School.
The Department of Psychology at MES Kalladi College organized a Community Extension Program and conducted a visit to FaithIndia Special School in Viyyakurissi on 07/11/2024. Twenty students, accompanied by faculty members Mr. Thajudheen V.P., Ms. Shamziya K.H., and Ms. Kajal T.K., participated in this event, which aimed to provide hands-on experience in special education and foster a better understanding of working with children with special needs. Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Rajani, the Head of the institution, who shared insights into the school's mission and activities. FaithIndia Special School, which serves over 120 special needs students, also offers an RCI-recognized D.Ed. (Diploma in Education) course in special education. Mr. Jayaprakash, the course coordinator, gave an informative overview of this program, detailing its objectives, curriculum, and career opportunities. The students were then divided into five groups, each tasked with engaging a small group of children in interactive classes tailored to their intellectual abilities. This experience enabled students to connect with the children, apply their psychological knowledge, and participate in various engaging activities.
