FORENSIA 3.0 The forensic science exhibition “Forensia 3.0” conducted by the Department of Forensic Science was held on 03 March 2024 at Science Block of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad which provided a captivating journey into the intricate world of crime-solving techniques and technologies. Inaugurated by our esteemed principal, Dr. Rajesh C along with other active members, the exhibition showcased a myriad of exhibits and demonstrations. The visitors were immersed in the diverse facets of forensic science from Fingerprint analysis to Crime Scene Investigation and more beyond. One of the highlights of the exhibition was the ABO Blood Grouping section, where visitors learned about the determination of the specific blood group of an individual. Students demonstrated the live experiments where the visitors got an typical insight on how blood grouping is used in forensic investigations to identify individuals and to analyse blood evidence found at crime scenes. Another captivating exhibit focused on fingerprint analysis, demonstrating how unique patterns on fingertips can be used to identify suspects and link them to crime scenes. Visitors had the opportunity to explore various fingerprinting methods, from traditional ink-based techniques to modern digital scanning methods. Students were on hand to explain the science behind fingerprint analysis and its crucial role in criminal justice system. Forensic anthropology was another intriguing aspect of the exhibition, focusing on the study of human skeletal remains to determine identity, cause of death, and other critical information. Visitors learned about bone analysis techniques, such as age estimation, sex determination, and how these methods contribute to solving missing persons cases and unidentified remains. Microscopic fibres, hair, material were displayed in microscopes for the better understanding on its forensic significance, bribe trap aimed to shed a light on the crucial role forensic science plays in uncovering and prosecuting cases of corruption and counterfeit of currency notes brought an awareness to the visitor into the innovative methods employed by forensic experts to identify and mitigate the proliferation of counterfeit currency. Incorporating games into the forensic science exhibition was both educational and engaging. Apart from the exhibits, through games the attendees from other departments got an interactive sections and won prizes for the respective activities. A simulated murder crime scene was the biggest highlight of the overall exhibition as it provided the visitors with a hands-on experience of the meticulous process involved in crime scene investigation. From documenting evidence to collecting and preserving samples, visitors gained insight into the crucial steps taken by forensic investigators to ensure the integrity of evidence. Students explained briefly about various techniques, such as bloodstain pattern analysis and footprint identification, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of crime scene investigation. The exhibit featured a various types of trace evidence present in the scene of crime for visitors to analyse and draw conclusions from it and got an opportunity to step into the shoes of forensic investigators by participating in an Interactive crime scene reconstruction. Thus, the forensic science exhibition provided a compelling and enlightening experience for visitors, offering insights into the intricate world of forensic investigation. From interactive crime scene reconstructions to live demonstrations of forensic techniques, the exhibition showcased the crucial role of forensic science in uncovering truth and delivering justice.
