One day Workshop on Questioned document examination in the AI era
The Department of Forensic Science successfully conducted a workshop titled “Questioned Document Examination in the AI Era” on 16th December 2025. The programme was organized by Ms. Dinsha K, Head of the Department, coordinated by the faculty member Ms. Malavika U. Principal, Dr. C. Rajesh, graced the occasion and handed over a token of love to the resource person as a mark of appreciation and Ms. Dinsha K, shared her thoughts on the relevance of the workshop and emphasized the need for Forensic students to understand modern challenges in document examination in the era of artificial intelligence. The session was handled by Mr. Darshan Murali, Forensic Executive, SIFS India, who served as the resource person. He delivered an informative and practical-oriented lecture on contemporary issues in questioned document examination. The resource person explained how AI-generated documents, digitally altered signatures, scanned forgeries, deepfake documents, and electronic records are increasingly encountered in Forensic investigations. The workshop covered several useful topics for students, including handwriting and signature examination in digitally printed documents, detection of alterations and erasures, examination of photocopied and scanned documents, identification of forged digital signatures, and challenges posed by AI-based text generation tools. The role of advanced instruments, image analysis software, and forensic standards in document examination was also discussed. Special emphasis was given to limitations of AI tools and the importance of expert judgment and experience in Forensic document analysis. The interactive session enabled students to understand real-life case scenarios, career opportunities in Forensic document examination, and the evolving role of Forensic experts in courts of law. Students actively participated by asking questions related to Forensic reporting, expert testimony, and ethical responsibilities in handling questioned documents. The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The Department of Forensic Science expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person, the Principal, the Head of the Department, and all participants for making the workshop highly informative and beneficial.
