The Department of Botany at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, organized a Skill Development Programme focused on "Advanced Research Skills: From Literature Search to Thesis Crafting" on November 11, 2024. The event, held in the M.Sc. Lab, aimed to equip postgraduate students and final year UG students with essential research methodologies, from the initial stages of literature review to the final stages of thesis writing.The programme was started with a Welcome speech by Shahana Jasmi A.(Assistant professor,Dept of Botany). The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sereena K. (HOD,Department of Botany). In her inaugural address, highlighted the critical role of research in academic and professional pursuits. He emphasized the need for students to acquire robust research skills to contribute meaningfully to the field of Botany.Felicitations for the programme was done by Dr.Sreenivasan (coordinator,Research promotion council,MESKC).The keynote speaker for the event was Ms. Nazeema M.K., an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany. Her insightful presentation covered a wide range of topics, including: * Effective Literature Search Techniques: Ms. Nazeema discussed the importance of identifying relevant research papers and articles. She provided guidance on utilizing databases like Google Scholar etc. * Thesis Writing and Formatting: The session delved into the structure of a research thesis, from the introduction to the conclusion. Ms. Nazeema shared tips on writing clear and concise research papers, adhering to academic writing standards. * Data Analysis and Interpretation: The importance of rigorous data analysis was emphasized. The speaker explained various statistical techniques and software tools used to analyze research data. * Presentation Skills: Effective communication of research findings is crucial. Ms. Nazeema provided valuable insights into creating impactful presentations, including slide design and delivery techniques.Following the presentation, an interactive session was held, allowing students to clarify their doubts and seek guidance from the expert. This interactive exchange fostered a deeper understanding of the concepts and techniques discussed.The Skill Development Programme was a resounding success, providing participants with a comprehensive overview of advanced research skills.
