Research & Postgraduate Department of Chemistry organizes one dayWorkshop on Computational Chemistry Calculations and Molecular Docking on 10-06-2024 through peer- peer teaching methods RESEARCH & POSTGRADUATE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad WORKSHOP ON “COMPUTATIONAL CHEMISTRY CALCULATIONS AND MOLECULAR DOCKING” Date: 10th June 2024, Time: 9:30 AM, Venue: C V Raman Hall The Research & Postgraduate Department of Chemistry of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad organized a workshop on “Computational Chemistry Calculations and Molecular Docking” under the guidance of Dr. T N Mohammed Musthafa, Head of the Department of Chemistry. The workshop mainly focused upon a peer-to-peer interaction between the first- and second-year postgraduate students of Chemistry. Moreover, the faculties of the Chemistry Department also ensured their participation in the workshop session The workshop included two sessions. The first session comprised of oral presentations regarding “Computational Chemistry Calculations and Molecular Docking” followed by a practical demonstration of the same in the second session. A total of 39 participants attended the workshop. SESSION-1 The programme commenced by 9:45 a.m. The programme began with a welcome speech by Dr. Mohammed Musthafa T N, Head of the Department of Chemistry. Dr Rajesh C, the Principal of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, delivered the inaugural addres s. The session was initiated by a brief introductory presentation about ‘Computational Chemistry’ by Ms. Midhuna M Nair, second year postgraduate student. Later on, the ‘Computational Chemistry Calculations’ were presented by second year post graduate students Ms. Ayshabi A, Ms. Asna Sherin P, Ms. Ansi Asharaf and Ms. Raheena. Besides, Ms. Shibla, second year postgraduate student presented the topic ‘Molecular Docking’. Afterwards, the session was open for discussions. The lecture finished by 11:45 am. The presentations were productive and fruitful for the students, research scholars and faculties participated. A conclusion is drawn to the session with a vote of thanks by Mohammad Zishan, first year postgraduate student of Chemistry department. SESSION-2 The session started at 12:00 pm. The workshop session included detailed explanation and demonstration of the practical part of “Computational Chemistry Calculations and Molecular Docking”. A google meet link was provided to the participants. The primary demonstration using the google meet was presented by Ms. Shibla on the topic ‘Molecular Docking’. Followed by the chemical problem calculations, ‘Computational Chemistry Calculations’ were demonstrated and deciphered by using the “Gauss view” software by Ms. Ayshabi A, Ms. Asna Sherin P, Ms. Ansi Asharaf and Ms. Raheena. This session help to introduce the participants to the scope of this extensively flourishing branch of chemistry. The session was concluded by 12:45 pm.
