REPORT ON AN ORIENTATION FOR UGC NET An orientation session for NET/JRF was organized by the Minority Cell and the NET Coaching Centre of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, on 15th November 2024. The session, held at Ambedkar Hall from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM, aimed to provide guidance and support for postgraduate students in social sciences preparing for the UGC NET/JRF examination. The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with a welcome address by Mrs. Femina E.P., the Coordinator of the NET Coaching Centre. Following this, Mrs. Shameera M.K., Coordinator of the Minority Cell, delivered the presidential address, highlighting the importance of such initiatives for academic growth. The resource person for the session was Dr. Ummer V.M., Associate Professor, Department of Arabic, SNGS College, Pattambi. He delivered an engaging session focusing on the General Paper of UGC NET, which tests the teaching and research aptitude of candidates. The session covered fundamental concepts and topics, allowing students to gain a clearer understanding of the paper’s structure and content. A key highlight of the session was the interactive Q&A segment, where students actively participated by asking questions and clarifying their doubts. This interaction significantly enhanced their understanding of the subject. The afternoon session featured mock tests for the General Paper, providing participants with an opportunity to evaluate their preparedness and familiarize themselves with the exam pattern. The orientation was well-received, with participants finding it both informative and engaging. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Manju R.V., Assistant Professor, Department of History, who expressed gratitude to all those involved in organizing the event. Overall, the programme was a success, equipping students with valuable insights and boosting their confidence for the NET/JRF examination.
