KSEB Consumer Awareness Program

KSEB Consumer Awareness Program A Consumer Awareness Program was organized on October 16, 2025, at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, under the auspices of the Consumer Advocacy Cell (CAC) of the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC). The event was jointly conducted by the Departments of Physics and Chemistry in association with the Energy Conservation Forum of the college. The program commenced with a welcome address by Sri. Bhuvanachandraprasad, Compliance Examiner, KSERC. The session was presided over by the Law Member of KSERC, who highlighted the Commission’s initiatives toward safeguarding consumer rights and promoting responsible energy use. A detailed talk on consumer rights and regulatory mechanisms was delivered by Sri. B. Sreekumar, Consultant, Consumer Advocacy Cell of KSERC. This was followed by a technical session led by Sri. Sunil N.X., Deputy Chief Engineer, Shornur Electrical Circle, who explained various technical aspects of electricity distribution, billing, and energy conservation practices beneficial for consumers. Officials from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), including Sri. Murti, Executive Engineer, Mannarkkad, were also present and interacted with participants, addressing their queries and concerns. 130 students from the departments of physics and chemistry, along with a few teachers attended the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sebastian Koothottil, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad. The event successfully enhanced awareness among students and faculty about consumer rights, regulatory procedures, and energy conservation.
