Police Station visit
The department of forensic Science conducted Mannarkkad police station visit on 14th October 2025 under the supervision of HoD Dinsha K, Faculty members Aruna and Malavika from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The session was organized as part of the academic enrichment programme to provide students with practical exposure to police investigation procedures and the roles of various officers in criminal cases. The classes were handled by the Inspector of Police Rajesh M, Sub-Inspector, ASI Seena S, and officers from the Crime Records Office (CRO), who explained their respective duties in maintaining law and order, investigating crimes, and managing criminal records. Each officer provided valuable insights into their areas of work and demonstrated how forensic science plays an essential role in supporting criminal investigations. The CI discussed the overall supervision of investigations, coordination with forensic experts, and the importance of proper evidence handling. The SI elaborated on the registration of FIRs, collection of preliminary evidence, and conduct of spot investigations. The CRO officer explained the maintenance of criminal records, fingerprint databases, and the digital documentation systems currently used in modern policing. The officers also shared real-life investigative experiences and emphasized the importance of maintaining a proper chain of custody during evidence handling. Their talks helped us understand the crucial link between forensic science and police investigation in solving crimes effectively and efficiently. The session enabled students to gain a clear understanding of police hierarchy, investigative workflow, and record management. It also helped in realizing the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and forensic experts in the criminal justice system. Overall, the classes at Mannarkkad Police Station were highly informative and practical, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The students expressed sincere gratitude to the police officials for their valuable time, guidance, and encouragement.
