World Ozone Day 2025

The Department of Zoology celebrated the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on 16th September 2025 with various awareness-oriented activities. The program was coordinated by Ms. Shruti M. and Dr. Shama P. S. of the Department of Zoology. The day’s proceedings began at the open auditorium, where the Vice Principal, Jaleel Sir, and the Head of the Department, Ms. Naseema, inaugurated the event. Before the commencement of the procession, all participants took part in an oath-taking ceremony, pledging their commitment to protect the ozone layer and work towards a sustainable future.Following this, the first-year B.Sc. Botany students conducted a procession from the open auditorium, carrying placards and raising slogans related to ozone protection and environmental conservation. The procession moved towards MES Higher Secondary School, Manarkad, where the students of the department led an awareness session for the school children. As part of this session, a PowerPoint presentation on ozone depletion, its causes, effects, and preventive measures was delivered to Class VIII students. To further engage the students, a quiz competition based on the theme was conducted, in which the winners were awarded prizes.The celebration aimed at creating awareness on the importance of the ozone layer, highlighting the threats it faces, and stressing the need for collective responsibility in its protection. It also sought to cultivate a sense of environmental responsibility among students and to encourage collaboration between college and school students in spreading the message of sustainability.
