The event is organized by the Departments of Botany & Zoology in association with Bhoomithrasena Club.The theme for the event is "Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future". The resource person is Dr. Suresh Kumar K A, Assistant Professor & HOD, Department of Botany, Govt. College Chittur. He will be speaking on the topic "Wetland: The Wonderland".The event will be held at the Satyajit Ray Audio Visual Theatre.

The Department of Botany and Zoology, in association with the Bhoomithrasena Club of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, organized a program to commemorate World Wetlands Day 2025. The event was held on February 17, 2025, at the Satyajit Ray Audio Visual Theatre, with the theme "Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future."The program commenced at 10:00 AM. by a welcome speech by Dr. Sereena K., Head of the Department of Botany. In her address, she emphasized the significance of wetlands in maintaining ecological balance and the need for their conservation. She highlighted the college's commitment to environmental awareness and action through initiatives like the Bhoomithrasena Club. Dr. C. Rajesh, the Principal of MES Kalladi College, delivered the presidential address. He expressed his appreciation for the department's efforts in organizing the event and stressed the importance of educating students and the community about the crucial role of wetlands. He reiterated the college's support for such initiatives that contribute to environmental sustainability.The keynote speaker for the occasion was Dr. Suresh Kumar K.A., Assistant Professor and HOD of the Department of Botany at Govt. College Chittur. He delivered an insightful presentation on the topic "Wetland: The Wonderland." Dr. Kumar's presentation covered various aspects of wetland ecosystems, including their biodiversity, ecological functions, and the threats they face. He emphasized the need for integrated conservation efforts and community participation to protect these vital ecosystems. The presentation was followed by an interactive session where students and faculty members had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts.Nazeema M.K., FIC of the Bhoomithrasena Club and Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, felicitated the gathering. She spoke about the activities of the Bhoomithrasena Club in promoting environmental awareness and conservation. She also highlighted the importance of student involvement in such initiatives and encouraged them to take an active role in protecting wetlands.The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Shahana Jasmi A., Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany. She expressed her gratitude to the keynote speaker, principal, faculty members, staff, students, and all those who contributed to the success of the event.
