The department of commerce was started in the college in the year 1967. Mr .V.Haris M.Com was the only faculty member in the department. The first batch of pre degree commerce presented for university examination in 1969 achieved a pass percentage of 47. In 1971 the college was upgraded as a degree college and the B.Com degree course was started in the same year. Sri.P.P.Ummer Koya (Former Minister for education Kerala.) inaugurated the degree course on 1-12-1971. The college was up graded as a post graduate college by the introduction of M.Com in 1978 with six students. The first batch of M.Com appeared for the University examination in 1980 and secured 100% result with 1st rank. The B.B.S course was sanctioned to this college in the year 1999 by admitting 22 students and the B.B.S Batch appeared for the university examination in 2002. Deepa. C of this batch secured university 2nd Rank and the pass percentage was 91. From 2002 onwards this course is renamed as B.B.A

Presently more than 470 students are studying in 3 different programmes viz, B.Com Finance, B.B.A Finance and M.Com Finance under the department. The Department offers an excellent course structure with choice of electives following Calicut university syllabus that intends to develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values through dynamic and interactive methods of learning and grooming students into highly competent professionals. Training in soft skills and personality development, skill enhancement programs and workshops, seminars, mentoring sessions, a robust alumni network are some of the added features.
