Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc)
Knowledge and skills are the key driving forces of economic growth and social development. India is currently facing an issue of demand-supply mismatch in the labour market as the country needs more skilled workforce than that is actually available. In order to fill this gap, there should have proper mechanisms and systems to impart skills in the people especially in those who pursue higher education. Realizing this importance, Government of India launched National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) with an objective of streamlining the process of imparting skills and vocational training.
Vocational courses are the results of such an initiative, and a new trend has been recently set in India with the introduction of Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) programs. This program with a duration of three years broadly aims at providing adequate skills and industry specific attributes to the candidates. B.Voc courses stand apart from other courses due to its emphasis on application-based learning. Candidates pursuing this course have increasing probability of being skilled and employed as they will be provided with the opportunities for on-the-job training and industrial experience.
Out of wide range of B.Voc courses in the field of hospitality management, health sector, media, food science, engineering and so on, MES Kalladi College selected following four courses:

B.Voc in Dairy Science and Technology
Being the largest dairy producer in the world with 22 per cent of global production, India is home for a thriving dairy industry. The industry continues to play an important role in socio-economic development of the country with its enormous capacity to absorb a good number of work-force especially in the rural sector. BVoc course in Dairy Science and Technology basically deals with the topics such as milk production, animal husbandry, cattle rearing, storage of milk, processing, nutrition science, marketing and management. With the rigorous trainings provided to the candidates in these areas and exclusively on the technology to be used in the industry, candidates will be able to develop proper skills and attributes required to excel in the dairy and allied industry.
B.Voc in Food and Nutrition
The science of Food and Nutrition integrates the processes involved in the production and consumption of food. B.Voc in Food and Nutrition course deals with the wide areas of biological and chemical composition of food, preservation and the level of nutrition. The students will be equipped with the knowledge and practical sides of understanding the importance of hygiene and maintenance in order to know how food can be made worthy of consumption. The program concentrates on the aspects of nutrition, the techniques of preservation and its importance to health. Food and Nutrition course provides students with the ability to perform an individual study on the subject and to conduct advanced researches. The candidates will be trained to explore the field of Food and Nutrition widening their scope in areas of Food Industry, Nutritionist, Diet Therapist, Aerobic Consultant and much more.
B.Voc in Data Science and Analytics
This is an age of data, and the use, sale and analysis of data are gaining huge importance in the modern world. Industries around the world depend on huge data sets to make proper decisions related to business expansion, production, marketing and sales. All these have contributed to the development of a discipline called data science and analytics. Resultantly, in the modern data-centric world, this field of study is coming up with huge opportunities and career options. With an integrated and inter-disciplinary approach, data science prepares the students in the areas of mathematics, statistics, analytics, computer science and information science. Candidates will be trained to handle structured and unstructured data, process and analyze the data, and to make reasonable insights. This field of study with an upward growth graph, creates the candidates who are able to solve the problems and challenges in different areas ranging from economics to governance.
B.Voc in Tourism and Hospitality Management
The hospitality, travel and tourism sector is one of the rapidly growing industries in the world. Various job opportunities are created in this sector and it remains to be one of the highly sought-after destinations of many students. BVoc in Tourism and Hospitality Management will equip the students to cope with the emerging trends and challenges in the industry and they will be able to develop their managerial and entrepreneurial skills with deep knowledge in the practical and theoretical concepts related to the field.
- Aspirants seeking admission to 3 year Full-time B.Voc Program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.
- Candidates should have passed in 10+2 examination in relevant stream or possess an equivalent qualification from recognized board.
- Equal weightage should be given to vocational subjects at +2 level while considering the students for admission into B.Voc courses for recognition of skills credits.
- Reservation to SC, ST, OBC and PwD categories will be available as per the extant National / State policy.
- There shall be no age bar for admission in the BVoc degree programmes.
Duration of course
- 3 years and 120 cumulative credits
- Student fee should be decided as per the prevalent practice for fee fixation taking into account for the sustainability of the programme.
